The day before the NAGC 64th Annual Convention starts up, veteran NASCAR Crew Chief Doug Richert, who as a 19-year-old served as Dale Earnhardt’s chief during Earnhardt’s 1980 title season, joined NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Austin Cindric at a special event at the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Richert has served as chief to many top racers during his more than 30 years in the sport.
Cindric and Richert took part in a special STEM education event along with students from Piedmont IB Middle School, that focused, in part, on the importance of STEM skills and teamwork in racing. Piedmont Principal Jackie Barone has been named the 2017 NAGC Administrator of the Year, and she will receive the awared, presented by Ball State University, later in the conference week.
The students went on to demonstrate their teamwork skills by working together stuffing convention bags for attendees. Bag stuffing was finished in record time!
