A Holiday Message

HappyHolidays! 2017.pngAs the year comes to a close, we celebrate and reflect. You are an integral part of our success this year, and we can be proud of what we have accomplished together!

NAGC is committed to ensuring giftedness and high potential are fully recognized, universally valued, and actively nurtured to support all gifted and talented children as they reach for their personal best and contribute to their communities.  As a supporter of our mission, you know that gifted children living in poverty and from ethnic and language minority groups are 250% less likely to be identified for, and served in, gifted and talented programs in schools.  Together, we will change this statistic.

Here is an overview of the wonderful things we have been able to do this year because of your commitments:

MINDS

  • NAGC research and resources inform and inspire over 25,000 teachers, parents, educators and advocates.
  • NAGC affected countless minds with over 50 media placements across the U.S.
  • NAGC earned a significant increase in followers on social media channels like Twitter and Facebook (27,000followers/likes).
  • NAGC distributed over 10,000 Giftedness Knows No Boundaries brochures to engage hearts and minds.
  • There are more than 15,000 page views on the Giftedness Knows No Boundaries micro-site from 89 countries across the globe.

POLICIES

  • NAGC activated advocates to rescue the Javits Program from elimination in 2017.
  • NAGC built five pieces of customizable legislation to help local advocates secure improvements to policies in their states.
  • NAGC impacted the federal discretionary grants program to include a priority for applicants that serve gifted children from under-served populations.
  • NAGC influenced the U.S. Department of Education’s guidance on the Endrew Decision that asks school systems to challenge all students.
  •  NAGC supported local leaders in Connecticut, Washington, and Illinois to get new policies and funding that support gifted children on the books.

PRACTICES

  • The NAGC Convention served over 2,300 paid parents, P12 educators, and academics/researchers who support gifted children reaching for their personal best.
  • NAGC, with the support of the Parent & Community Network and the Parent, Editorial & Content Advisory Board (PECAB), released the popular Parent TIP Sheets viewed/downloaded more than 13,000 times.
  • NAGC hosted Family Day in selected cities spanning the U.S. serving nearly 500 parents, caregivers, and gifted children.
  • NAGC launched the Practices initiative that will help individuals in homes, schools, and communities implement evidence-based practices for gifted children.

Thank you so much for everything you do to give all gifted children the opportunity to achieve their full potential.   While we have accomplished so much this year, there is much more to be done. We hope that as you consider your year-end giving, you will renew your support to improving the learning lives of all gifted and talented children.

If you recently made your gift, thank you. If you have not yet done so, please consider making your gift before December 31. To make your donation online, simply click here.

Wishing you a wonderful holiday season and a prosperous new year!
