Eric Calvert

Eric Calvert, Ed.D., is Associate Director of the Center for Talent Development (CTD), a comprehensive gifted education center at Northwestern University.  Calvert Oversees CTD’s online programs and professional learning programs for K-12 educators, teaches online graduate courses on differentiating instruction for gifted learners, and consultants with schools on talent development program design and evaluation.  Previously, he served as state director for gifted education at the Ohio Department of Education and led development of Ohio’s policy on academic acceleration, which has become a national model, and served as a design team for middle and high school students and innovative schools. Calvert earned an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership at Bowling Green State University, where he also taught courses on research and digital learning theory in the College of Technology’s Learning Design program.  He holds a Master’s degree in educational psychology from Purdue University, where he also served as Director of Student Programs for the Gifted Education Resource Institute and designed Purdue’s first hybrid course for pre-service teachers.  He is an active member of NAGC and serves on the governing board of the Ohio Association for Gifted Children.
