NAGC works to support those who enhance the growth and development of gifted and talented children through education, advocacy, community building, and research
Dr. Diane Heacox is an Associate Professor at St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Minnesota. She has taught at elementary and secondary school levels and has served as a gifted education teacher and administrator, as well as an instructional specialist.
Author of four books, her newest publication is Differentiation for Gifted Learners co-authored with Richard Cash. Her books have been translated into Dutch, Hungarian, Korean, Portuguese, and Arabic. Her Differentiation Classroom Practices Inventory was used by the Ministry of Education in Portugal for conducting a national survey of classroom practices.
Past president of the Minnesota Educators for Gifted, Dr. Heacox serves on the Minnesota Department of Education’s Gifted and Talented Advisory Council. For NAGC, she has been a network chair and sat on the Education Committee A frequent presenter at NAGC conventions, Dr. Heacox also provides faculty development on gifted education nationally and internationally.
Dr. Heacox was recognized by the Minnesota Educators of Gifted and Talented as 2010 Friend of the Gifted for service to gifted education. She is also in the University of St. Thomas Educators Hall of Fame for contributions to education. She served on the Smarter Balanced National Advisory Panel for Assessment of the Common Core Standards.
