David Cutler

Director of Government Relations & Public Affairs
Prior to joining NAGC, David was the Director of Advocacy & Outreach at TESOL International Association, the world’s largest association for English language teachers. While at TESOL, he led the association’s grassroots advocacy efforts at the state, national, and global levels, while also spearheading all external communications. He was responsible for overseeing the annual TESOL Advocacy & Policy Summit and created a series of successful grassroots advocacy workshops.

In 2019, David was selected to participate in the American Society of Association Executive’s prestigious NextGen Summit, which brought together and recognized 25 emerging association leaders under 35-years-old from across the United States.

David’s previous work experiences have included the District of Columbia Public Schools, where he served as a community engagement specialist for families with children in Head Start programs, the American Federation of Teachers, and the New York State Assembly, where he served as a legislative aide. David received his bachelor’s in social studies education from Ithaca College and his master’s degree in public administration from Cornell University.

Outside of work, David enjoys watching and being disappointed by Chicago sports teams, knowing the dialogue to an unhealthy number of 80s and 90s sitcoms, keeping up on the latest pop culture trends, and traveling with his lovely and incredibly patient wife, Lindsay.
