Book of the Year

NAGC is not longer running the Book of the Year Award program

The NAGC Book of the Year was created to recognize excellence in books published in gifted and talented education.

Three categories of books will be evaluated

  • Practitioner Texts written on topics that address a range of educators who work with gifted children
  • Scholarly Texts offering an advanced understanding of contemporary research on gifted persons and gifted education
  • Parent and Caregiver Texts addressing issues affecting those raising and supporting gifted children
 
A panel of gifted education experts will evaluate the books on the following criteria
  • Utility
  • Relevance
  • Innovation
  • Understanding of content or issue
  • Evidence provided to support the text or ideas

Submission Rules and Criteria

  • Publishers may nominate no more than 2 books per category and each book must be nominated separately
  • Books must have a  copyright date from the two previous years.
  • The entry fee per title is $250
  • A book may be nominated for one category only
  • Winners will receive a Book of the Year logo/medallion for use
