Snyder will receive the 2017 Early Scholar Award at the NAGC 64th Annual Convention in Charlotte, NC, November 9-12, 2017.  Dr. Snyder, an Assistant Professor at the University of Louisville, was selected because of her contribution to scholarly work in support of gifted children.

“NAGC is committed to providing opportunities and resources to better understand and serve all gifted and talented children,” said M. René Islas, NAGC Executive Director. “The awards program shines a light on those who are making a difference in supporting gifted children as they reach to achieve their personal best.”

The Early Scholar Award is presented to people who are within 10 years of having received their doctorate and have made significant contributions through conducting and reporting research regarding the education of gifted and talented children. Our Early Scholars bring hope of better educational services for gifted students.

"I feel very honored to have been chosen to receive NAGC’s Early Scholar Award," said Dr. Snyder. "I am indebted to the fantastic mentoring that I have received over the years, and I would like to especially acknowledge Drs. Jill Adelson, Lisa Linnenbrink-Garcia, and Martha Putallaz.  Their guidance was invaluable in helping me grow as a scholar.  Further, I am deeply grateful to both Priscilla Flanagan (my mother) and Francia Barksdale (my first gifted education teacher) for sparking my interest in gifted students and academic underachievement so many years ago.”
