The National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) today announced Karen Rambo-Hernandez, an associate professor at Texas A&M University, will receive the 2019 NAGC Early Leader Award at the NAGC 66th Annual Convention in Albuquerque, NM, November 7-10, 2019.

The Early Scholar Award recognizes an individual who has made significant contributions in conducting and reporting research regarding the education of gifted and talented individuals, and who is their first 10 years in the field after completion of their last earned degree.

Dr. Rambo-Hernandez has published numerous quantitative research articles on gifted students that in the top gifted education journals, as well as several articles published in general education journals, helping inform a wider audience about the unique needs of gifted children.

“The awards program shines a light on those who are making a difference in supporting gifted children as they reach to achieve their personal best,” said Sally Krisel, NAGC Board President. “According to Duke TIP’s Matt Makel, Dr. Rambo-Hernandez’s work is helping to usher in new forms of rigorous research methods.”
