NAGC Welcomes New Board Members and Next President-Elect, Shelagh Gallagher

The National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) is pleased to welcome the association’s next President-elect, Dr. Shelagh Gallagher of Engaged Education, who was elected by the membership in June. “Dr. Gallagher has been a committed advocate and leader within NAGC for many years. Her passion for gifted education and mission to ensure that all gifted children have equitable access to gifted programs is beyond measure. I’m excited to work with Dr. Gallagher to advance the association’s many critical priorities concerning gifted children, their families, and their teachers,” remarked NAGC President Dr. Jonathan Plucker.

Joining Dr. Gallagher are the following newly elected board members who will each begin their 3-year term of service on September 1.

  • Tracy Inman, Ed.D., formerly of The Center for Gifted Studies at Western Kentucky University

State Representative

  • Christine Deitz, Ed.D., Mahony Center for Gifted Education at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock

In response to the election results, incoming NAGC President-Elect Dr. Shelagh Gallagher said, “I’m incredibly thankful for the opportunity to further serve NAGC and honored to assume this critical role within the association. I’ve dedicated my career to ensuring that the needs of our gifted and talented children are properly addressed. We still have a lot of work to do ensure that every gifted child receives equitable access to programs and services, but I look forward to continuing to advocate on their behalf, while moving the association forward into the future.”

The association thanks its candidates who ran this year and those who participated in the election. Information regarding the 2022 Board of Directors election will be released in November.
