NAGC Congratulates Dr. Del Siegle, 2021 NAGC Ann F. Isaacs Founder’s Memorial Award Recipient

The National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) is pleased to announce Dr. Del Siegle will receive the 2021 NAGC Ann F. Isaacs Founder’s Memorial Award for his distinguished service to NAGC and gifted education.

Dr. Siegle is the Lynn and Ray Neag Endowed Chair for Talent Development in the Neag School of Education at the University of Connecticut and director of the Renzulli Center for Creativity, Gifted Education, and Talent Development. Dr. Siegle also serves as the director for the National Center for Research on Gifted Education, which published a study on identifying gifted and talented English learners in 2018 and several other papers regarding underserved gifted students. Dr. Siegle is a past president of NAGC and previously received the NAGC Distinguished Service Award in 2011 and the NAGC Distinguished Scholar Award in 2018. In addition to having served as its president, Dr. Siegle has served as secretary and a member of the board of directors. Dr. Siegle is also a past member of the board of directors of The Association for the Gifted (CEC-TAG) and past chair of the AERA Research on Giftedness, Creativity, and Talent SIG. Dr. Siegle was founder and co-editor of the Journal of Advanced Academics, he served as co-editor of Gifted Child Quarterly, the top ranked research journal in the field of gifted education, and authors a technology column for Gifted Child Today.

“I am humbled to receive the NAGC Founder’s Award. It has been an honor to work with NAGC to expand our understanding of gifted education and through those efforts, expand opportunities for talented students, particularly those from underserved populations. We cannot rest until every student has an opportunity to reach his or her full potential,” said Siegle after learning of his award.

“Dr. Siegle has had a tremendous impact on NAGC and the entire field of gifted education throughout his career,” said NAGC Board President Lauri Kirsch. “His service and dedication over the years serve as an inspiration to many others and are an example of outstanding leadership within the Association. Countless gifted and talented children have benefited from Dr. Siegle’s research and advocacy, and I look forward to presenting him with this much deserved award next month in Denver,” she concluded.

Dr. Siegle will receive the NAGC Ann F. Isaacs Founder’s Memorial Award at the NAGC Annual Convention in Denver, Colorado, November 11-14, 2021.
