The National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) today announced Terry Friedrichs will receive the 2018 Community Service Award at the NAGC 65th Annual Convention in Minneapolis, MN, November 15-18, 2018.

“The awards program shines a light on those who are making a difference in supporting gifted children as they reach to achieve their personal best, and Dr. Friedrichs has made important contributions to the gifted education community,” said M. René Islas, NAGC Executive Director.

The Community Service award is presented to an individual or organization that has made contributions that benefit gifted young people in the community, state, or nation. Dr. Friedrichs has spent decades as a teacher, researcher, and advocate for gifted children, including LBGTQ students and those with disabilities. He is a co-author of the recent publication, Addressing the Needs and Approaches for Educators and Parents of Gifted Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Students.

Dr. Friedrichs will receive his award in a ceremony on Friday, November 16, 6pm at the Hilton Minneapolis Hotel. Media interested in covering the awards ceremony should contact NAGC in advance.
