The National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) will honor Jacquelin Medina, Retired Director of Gifted Education for the Colorado Department of Education, the NAGC President’s Award at the NAGC 66th Annual Convention in Albuquerque, NM, November 7-10, 2019.

“The field of gifted education has benefitted greatly from Jacquelin Medina’s many contributions,” said Jonathan Plucker, who begins his term as NAGC Board President on September 1, 2019. “Although Colorado students and teachers were the primary focus of Dr. Medina’s work, she has had a major impact on students across the country. Her efforts to support gifted education at a state-wide level have been highly successful, and her work has also been a model for leaders in other states. Dr. Medina has been an active member of NAGC for many years, and she is a very worth recipient of the NAGC President’s Award.”

Dr. Medina served as a co-principal investigator on the federally-funded Right 4 Rural project that examined diversity in rural communities and aimed to increase the identification of gifted students from underrepresented populations.

The Colorado Gifted and Talented Association recently named an award in Dr. Medina’s honor to recognize her leadership at the state, school, and district levels for the benefit of gifted students and their families.
