April Wells Receives 2018 NAGC Gifted Coordinator Award

The National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) today announced that April Wells has received a 2018 Gifted Coordinator Award. Ms. Wells is the Coordinator of Gifted, Academies, Advanced Placement, and World Languages for the Elgin Area School District U-46 in Illinois, and she was selected for her expertise and collaboration in moving her district’s gifted programming forward.

Ms. Wells will be recognized at the NAGC 65th Annual Convention in Minneapolis, MN, November 15-18, 2018.

“The awards program shines a light on those who are making a difference in supporting gifted children as they reach to achieve their personal best,” said M. René Islas, NAGC Executive Director. “April is a leader who is changing practices by creating and delivering professional development opportunities for teachers in her district.”

The Gifted Coordinator Award is presented annually to an administrator who has made significant contributions to gifted children in their school district. This includes developing gifted programs, identification protocols, or ongoing profession development on the needs of gifted children, as well as advocacy within the district for gifted education and gifted children.
